Preventive Strength Training (PST)
Kieser Training PST programs are all about taking responsibility for one’s health, wellbeing and performance.
From about 25 years of age onwards, muscles start to waste, mainly because of a lack of physical activity. In fact from the age of 40 people lose around 1 per cent of their muscle mass each year. Muscle weakness contributes to fatigue, weakness, and reduced activity tolerance. Joint problems become increasing common. This may be anything from mild stiffness to debilitating arthritis, leading to loss of mobility and in later life loss of independence.
Strong muscles are the bedrock of a healthy, efficient musculoskeletal system and robust metabolism. With over 30 years experience in developing and delivering personalised strength training programs in Europe and the UK, Kieser Training is regarded as one of the world’s leaders in strength training for health.
How do we increase muscle strength?
Many cling to the idea that all that is needed is some form of movement. That is why there is so much talk about the “lack of movement” from which we allegedly suffer. However, in reality we lack not movement but resistance. Most movements are done against a random resistance, primarily the Earth’s gravitational pull. These movements may have a training effect but is it not inevitable that they will. This is why actual movement is secondary in strength training.
What counts is resistance. Machine-based training allows us to dispense the right level of resistance, to control the path of that resistance, to distinguish between real and pseudo-progress and to record such progress.
30 minutes is all it takes
Kieser Training is efficient. You train on advanced machines that isolate individual muscles and strengthen them. Machine-based training ensures that the exercises are done correctly from the start because muscles are subject to an appropriate load throughout their range of motion.
Efficient training requires concentration. This is why we have created a non-distracting environment. There is no music, television, or wellness area. The design is functional and geared to successful training. With concentrated Kieser Training for 30 minutes once or twice a week, you can strengthen your entire body.
